revises it's Publisher's Page and Policy!
For reasons that will be clear as you read it, we have rethought our policy and we are posting our
revised Publisher's Page, as you will see it below.
On the tortuous avenues where readers and writers come together, the Internet will function as either a substitute for driving to the store or a source of
new, varied and wonderful possibilities.
What will eventuate depends - curiously, in my opinion - on the answer to a very prosaic question: WILL INTERNET READERS PAY FOR DOWNLOADS? At the moment, readers - and Internet surfers in general - are manifestly
reluctant to pay for downloads.
So much material is available without payment that the general reluctance to pay is understandable. How long this feast of free material will continue to be supported by hopeful and obnoxious advertising, and by equally hopeful prices of
Internet stocks, we will all learn together.
For these reasons, at the moment, AGoodBook is looking especially for known writers and recently out-of-print material that can be promoted in a
manner that encourages that unfortunately unaccustomed action of actually paying for
the download!
AGoodBook has no aspiration to publish everything that is submitted. We wish to present a selection of material whose style and content - in the words of
one of our advertisements - AMUSE, INFORM, SURPRISE AND DELIGHT!
WE ARE ALSO WAIVING OUR READING FEE
in an experiment to see what it takes and what it costs to attract new writers.
With the above considerations in mind, all writers are invited to submit a summary and a sample (ten pages) of their work to: editor@agoodbook.com
